Barbershop
This spot housed a Speakeasy during the 20's Prohibition era, there are police records of such. The Speakeasy ended up in flames but from those ashes a barber shop was built.
.Jalmar Kahkonen who had been barbering in town since 1919 completed this building in 1932 for $1,500 this building had this Barbershop, an attached dry goods store that his wife ran, and they lived on the second floor.
Mr. Kahkonen passed in 1942 by which time
Sven Osterlund operated this shop as
Sven's Uppertown Barbershop. Sven ran it until sometime in the 1950's, perhaps later.
I think Herman Colby may have been here, then Lloyd Closen was next in line followed by Glen Bay who took the helm with Glen"s Barber Shop until at least 1997. Glen may have been here two different times. Next in line was Cathy White calling her shop, Devine Image, followed by Olynxa in 2015 christening the shop Oly's Barber Shop. Oly hung up her shears in Sep. 2024 and is now a full time artist in WA.

What is a "Hair Cut"
Haircuts are Tapers, Fades, Flattops, High & Tights, Gentleman's Cut, Razor Haircuts, Shears on Top, and so forth and so on.
Hair Cuts include our signature edge detailing and Hot Lather neck shave, and if you desire a splash of Bay Rum aftershave and some styling product for your hair
What is a "Buzz Cut"
Buzz Cuts are an Ultra-low maintenance haircut ranging from stubble up to 1". This haircut works for folks that like it simple. A Buzz Cut is a haircut that uses clippers only and only a few clipper lengths at that. (An example: 1/4" on the sides 1/2" on top and 3/8" to connect top & sides) As with any haircut we include our signature edge detailing and Hot Lather neck shave, along with a splash of Bay Rum aftershave if desired

Beard Work is offered as an add-on service. Get your beard shaped or get it removed.

What is "Huuhdella"
A Finnish word meaning
to rinse (to wash quickly with water and no soap).
We do not offer shampoos as we hope your hair is clean when you come in, but this service is to rinse any loose hair out and towel or blow dry your hair.
